Invoice QR reader

Scan the code with your camera, upload a photo of it or paste its text, and read the invoice data it carries. It is read in your browser and sent nowhere.

The invoice is read in your browser only; its contents are not sent to any server.

What the code carries

An invoice QR is not a link: it is the invoice’s own data, laid out in fields and encoded in Base64.

  1. The five base fields

Seller name, VAT number, invoice time, total including VAT and the VAT amount. The code has carried them since Phase 1.

  2. The Phase 2 fields

On simplified invoices the Integration Phase added cryptographic fields: the invoice hash, the digital signature and the invoicing unit’s public key.

  3. Match the code to the paper

Read the code and compare name, VAT number, total and VAT with what is printed. Any difference is worth a question.

Questions

Does this tool prove an invoice is genuine?

No. It reads the code and flags what looks unusual, but it does not verify the digital signature. Full verification is done by ZATCA’s app, which checks the signature against the seller’s certificate.

Is my invoice data sent anywhere?

No. The code is read in your browser and the camera image never leaves your device. We record nothing the invoice contains.

I scanned the code and got a long meaningless text. Is it broken?

Probably not. A Saudi invoice code is encoded data, not a link, so general scanner apps show it as unreadable text. Paste that text here to read it.

Can the code help me record purchase invoices?

Yes. The five fields are the figures you need to record a supplier’s invoice: read them here and match them to the printout before you record it. To deduct its input VAT you need a valid tax invoice in your business’s name.

Invoices with the right code, first time

In alFatora the QR is built from the invoice’s own data when it is issued, so no simplified invoice goes out without a valid code.
